Hummingbirds – Have you seen them in your Palm Beach garden?

There are 16 different species of hummingbirds that live in the United States and 3 of these little guys visit us here in Florida; the Ruby-Throated are the most common, while the Rufous and the Black Chinned hummingbirds only visit during the winter months.

Weighing about the same as a penny, hummingbirds can flap their wings up to 200 times per second. They can fly upward, backward, and upside down. They can also hover.

Adult hummingbirds feed primarily on nectar. They may need to feed from hundreds of blossoms a day. Below is a list of plants that will increase your chances of seeing these little flighted friends in your Palm Beach garden.
